BARNALA: Barnala police have registered case of kidnapping against a ‘gatka’ (Sikh martial art) trainer. Trainer Gagandeep Singh is accused of kidnapping a class IX girl, who was learning martial arts from him.
Gagandeep (28) belongs to Badrukhan village near Sangrur and was teaching ‘gatka’ to children at Hamidi village gurdwara in Barnala. As per police, Gagandeep went to the girl’s school on Monday and took her to some undisclosed place. When the girl did not return home, her parents tried to trace her and later lodged a police complaint on late Monday night.
Barnala superintendent of police (investigations) Swaran Singh Khanna said as per investigations Gagandeep went to the school and told the staff that he was relative of the girl and wanted to take her along. The staff allowed the girl to go with him. Working on the complaint lodged by the father of the girl, police booked Gagandeep under sections 363 (kidnapping) and 366A (procuration of minor girl) of the IPC, said Barnala deputy superintendent of police (DSP) Rajesh Kumar Chhiber. He said police had got information that Gagandeep had gone towards Rajasthan and teams have been sent there to trace him.
